How well does Capitol Hill work if you get around by walking, rolling, or via transit? Who does it work well for, and who does it fail? Join Capitol Hill resident Curtis Atkisson for a 3-mile walk
Over about 2 hours, we’ll explore the uneven geography of daily life on Capitol Hill without a car, from places where errands and mobility are easy to places where distance, hills, unsafe crossings, or missing amenities make ordinary life harder than it should be. Along the way, we’ll consider how these conditions affect daily life, housing, street safety, and the kind of neighborhood Capitol Hill is becoming.
- The walk will start at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Capitol Hill light rail station north entry (Broadway and John Street).
- Expect hills and a short transit ride.
- Registration is limited to 25 people.
